Super Bowl Week Shopping Trip: Saved $58!

Publix wasn't hosting too many great deals this week. And quite frankly, I've been quite lazy with my couponing the last couple of weeks. Because of these two factors, I didn't expect to save as much as I did this week. But overall, I think the trip went pretty well and I managed to score a few noteworthy deals.

On a different note, the grocery store was beyond hectic this week. I went shopping Saturday, the evening before Super Bowl Sunday, and all of the crazies seemed to be out. There were rude shoppers, people blocking aisles with their carts and lots of Steelers/Packers rivalry in the air. In case anyone is wondering, I'm a Steelers fan -- go Steelers!

Anyway, I've outlined the best deals we were able to score at Publix below.

State Fair Corn Dogs: $3.29 (BOGO)
(-2) $1/1 printable manufacturer coupons
Final Price: $0.64 each.

Knorr Rice Sides: $1.49 (BOGO)
(-1) $0.50/2 manufacturer coupon 1/30/11 RP Insert
Final Price: $0.49 each.

Cheez-It Baked Snack Crackers: $3.99 (BOGO)
(-1) $1/2 manufacturer coupon 1/30/11 RP Insert
Final Price: $1.49 each.

Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes: $1.39 (BOGO)
(-1) B3G1F All You Magazine Coupon
(-1) $0.75/3 Publix Store Coupon
Final Price: $0.16 each (we bought 4 cans)

Breakdown of how I pulled off the Ro-Tel Deal:

The sale price was $1.39 BOGO. This means we would buy one can, and get the other free. But, because we bought four cans, two of those cans would be free due to the initial BOGO sale price. In addition to this, we used a B3G1F (Buy 3 Get 1 Free) manufacturer coupon. So, we'd get an additional can free... meaning we'd only be paying for one of the four cans.

This brought the total price of the four cans down to $1.39 or $0.34 each.

Because my store allows us to use a store coupon in addition to a manufacturer coupon, we were able to stack an additional $0.75/3 Publix store coupon to this sale.

This brought the total price of the four cans down to $0.64 or $0.16 per can.

I know it's confusing, but if you can get the hang of this, you can truly maximize your savings. If you have additional questions on how to successfully carry out this scenario, please leave a comment below and I'll walk you through it.
